The Internet Transforms the Site Location Process

Site selectors now have the upper hand thanks to the wealth of information about communities that can be found on the Web.

In the world of site location, capturing information is the objective, and those who achieve that objective are masters of their own fate.

For decades, it was the communities that controlled the information and, thus, the site location process. If expanding or relocating companies were interested in making inquiries into a particular community they had to go directly to that community.

Any semblance of anonymity would vanish, putting communities in the driver’s seat when it came time to negotiate a deal.

Those days are gone.
