Great Falls still trying to land helicopter company

Local officials are still talking to a Nevada-based helicopter company, hoping to lure some of the operation to Great Falls.

That news from the Great Falls Development Authority comes after an announcement that the company, Silver State Helicopters, signed a lease on a Butte building for a pilot training school.

Jerry Chavez, the GFDA’s vice president of marketing, said talks are continuing with the company about a "commercial project" in the Electric City.

"At this point, we are still working this deal," Chavez said late last week, several days after the Butte announcement made news.

Officials are saying little more about Silver State, citing competitive reasons. The number of possible jobs at stake is unclear.

"It would be a pretty significant operation up at the airport," Chavez said.
