The two candidates vying for the Public Service Commission representing district 3 (Gallatin, Park, Sweet Grass, Stillwater, Musselshell, Golden Valley, Wheatland, Meagher, Broadwater, Jefferson, Deer Lodge, Silver Bow, Beaverhead and Madison Counties) will appear at a candidate forum in Bozeman on October 20, 2004.

The forum, sponsored by AARP Montana http://www.aarp.org/states/mt/ , will be held at the Burns Telecommunications Center in room 103 of the Engineering and Physical Sciences Building on the Montana State University Campus and is open to the public.

“We’re pleased to be able to participate in bringing the candidates for this important office together to discuss with voters their views on the role of the PSC and their views about energy regulation and other issues important to Montana residential consumers,” said Pat Harper, Associate State Director of AARP Montana.

The two candidates, Edward C. McCrone (R-Bozeman) and Bob Raney (R-Livingston) are running for the seat being vacated by current Commissioner Matt Brainard (R-Florence). Commissioner Brainard ran unsuccessfully for Lt. Governor on the republican ticket with running mate Tom Keating (R-Billings) in the 2004 gubernatorial primary thereby preventing him from seeking reelection to the PSC. Because of reapportionment, this district now encompasses a different set of counties than those currently served by Commissioner Brainard.
