WorldWIT network for women in business and technology. Is Montana ready to start a chapter?

Our network for women in business and technology, called WorldWIT,
has wanted to get a community going in Montana for some time.

We are a free, global email discussion network, made up of 70 local chapters
like ChicWIT (Chicago), RockyWIT (Colorado), BangaloreWIT, SwitzWIT, etc. We
have 35,000 members (subscribers) who are women in business and tech;
entrepreneurs and corporate women; academics, government and not-for-profit
women; consultants, vcs, angel investors, media women and women in the arts.
We share ideas, advice, contacts, job openings, articles, and general
support via moderated email discussion, totally spam-free, archived and
nearly real-time.

Early in 2004 we launched our 70th chapter, ArkWIT, in conjunction with the
Information Technology Research Center at the University of Arkansas. I had
spoken at the Women in Technology conference at the U of A last fall and
they were interested in starting a local WorldWIT group; so the folks at the
University connected me with a local entrepreneur, Amy Robinson, who became
the Executive Director for ArkWIT. Amy works with me and our group in
Boulder to build membership and list traffic, and organize events in
Arkansas to bring ArkWIT women together.

In other regions we have terrific relations with the Alabama Information
Technology Association (AITA and our group, AlaWIT, have a joint event later
this month), with the Colorado Software and Internet Association, the
Colorado Software Association and so on.

We would like to identify Montana women to spearhead
BigSkyWIT. We’ve had great
response to new chapters in the past – our PhillyWIT group grew to over 200
members in the first week! It helps a lot that membership is free.

There is more information about our network on our http://www.worldwit.org
website. If this project interests you we would love to collaborate on
it.

take care
