Career Opportunity – Executive Director Glendive Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture – Dawson County Economic Development Council

Position Description: The full-time Director is responsible for leadership, planning and implementation of economic projects and potentials. The Director will report to the DCEDC. General duties include, but are not limited to, business recruitment and expansion, assistance with corporate financing, grant writing, and promoting/marketing Glendive, Dawson County and the surrounding service area.

Position Requirements: A college degree and/or equivalent experience in business, public relations and marketing. An understanding of farming/ranching and value-added agriculture is preferred. Advanced computer and telecommunications skills are beneficial. Knowledge and experience in legislative processes and lobbying practices would be helpful. Previous experience in economic development, grant writing and financial management are desired. Successful applicant must live and work in Dawson County or be willing to relocate to Dawson County.

The Director should be a dynamic, versatile individual with excellent oral and writing skills and should possess innovative ideas with salesmanship abilities to promote those ideas. The Director must be a self-motivated, project-oriented person who can remain focused, positive and dedicated to the mission and goals of the DCEDC. Personal experience and knowledge of the issues confronting people in a rural, sparsely populated area will be a consideration in selecting the Director.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· work closely with existing business in the Dawson County service area and actively facilitate expansion of existing business and successfully recruit new businesses;

· maintain and expand the economic development plan for Dawson County, with relevant resource materials;

· assist businesses in obtaining financing

· actively facilitate expansion of existing businesses and successfully recruit new businesses;

· be the liaison person for the county at the state, regional and national levels on all economic development issues;

· facilitate participation and coordination of civic groups in the economic development mission;

· work closely with city and county governments to fund and promote economic development;

· aggressively solicit funds for economic development;

· represent the city/county at economic development meetings and workshops locally, statewide and regionally;

· provide leadership and vision with a total commitment to economic development.
