"Encouraging Entrepreneurship: Money, Markets and Montana" will focus on how state policy decisions can further support entrepreneurship in Montana.

"This is the intersection of public policy and private initiative," says Gordon "Corky" Brittan, an MSU professor and director of the Wheeler Center. "This conference will appeal to a broad audience, including policy makers at the state and local levels, economic developers, state administrators and educators."

Conference participants include Richard Semenik, dean of the MSU College of Business and founder of the MSU Entrepreneurship Center and David Gibson, director of the Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity in Helena. Roger Lang, a business owner from the San Francisco Bay area in California as well owner of a business in Madison Valley will provide his perspective about entrepreneurship.

Four successful Montana entrepreneurs will share their perspectives in a panel moderated by Rep. Joe McKenney of Great Falls.

Sheila Stearns, Montana’s Commissioner of Higher Education, will chair a panel on "Public Policy and Private Initiative: Finding Answers, Crafting a Plan." Panelists will include Dave Bayless of Pioneer Entrepreneurs in Bozeman; Russ Fletcher of Montana Associated Technology Roundtable in Missoula; John O’Donnell, executive director of Tech Ranch in Bozeman and Dick King of Montana Economic Developers Association in Missoula.
