UM Business School launches new Web site

Welcome to the University of Montana School of Business Administration’s new Web site http://www.business.umt.edu/ . It’s been redesigned to provide all the information potential students, current students and faculty members might need, with the professionalism that characterizes SoBA.

Two main areas provide detailed news news about SoBA people and events. At top center of the page is a synopsis of a feature about business school events and related projects. You can read each story by clicking "read more," or you can preview all the selections with the "previous" and "next" buttons.

The center portion of the page includes a series of shorter profiles about faculty, students, alumni and upcoming events.

Between the two sections, in the gray and maroon bars, are a search function to find mention of nealry anyone or almost anything associated with SoBA, plus links to an A-to-Z index of faculty and staff index, a secure logon for faculty to access their Web pages and a link for students to log on to SoBA’s Blackboard sytem of online classrooms.

The left-hand navigation bar provides access to information important to planning a student’s experience at SoBA:

* About us: The school’s mission statement, commitment to experiential learning, facilities, geography and accreditation.

* Prospective Students: A Flash presentation about life on and off campus.

* Current Students: All the links required to start and to stay on top of your academic career.

* Faculty & Staff: A directory to professors and instructors, and their Web pages. Academic Programs: SoBA’s degree options, emphases and requirements.

* Graduate Programs: Everything about SoBA’s master’s degrees in Business Administration and Accounting, off-campus options, and joint degrees with law and pharmacy schools.

* Affiliate Centers: American Indian Business Leaders, Bureau of Business and Economic Research, Montana World Trade Center, and other distinguished centers of learning and development.

* Employment: Potential jobs for students and instructors.

* Alumni: How graduates can keep in touch, forge and renew business relationships, and help a new generation of business students.

* SoBA Newsletter: The latest events, downloaded in pdf format.

In the page’s right-hand column, a continuously updated calendar of events provides a quick scan of items that should be in your PDA or amid your accumulation of sticky notes.

At the bottom of the page, visitors can read other news about Montana and the region, and get Missoula’s current weather.

The redesign and added functions are the product of the SoBA Tech Team, led by Adjunct Instructor Ryan Wright, and including Janna O’Connell, Matt Henry and Greg Lakes.
