Technical Assistance available for EPSCoR university research teams

The EPSCoR Centers Development Initiative (CDI) is gearing up to offer
technical assistance to EPSCoR university research teams preparing
‘large-scale’ proposals (i.e., with budgets of at least $2 million) for
NSF’s upcoming ITR (Information Technology Research) competition. Teams
desiring technical assistance for this competition should contact the CDI
project to discuss next steps. http://www.epscorfoundation.org/cdi

*** Please help advertise this opportunity to research teams at your
university and in your state who may be interested.

*** Note that the ITR program funds both: (1) research proposals that
address challenges that face IT, and (2) proposals that seek advances at the
frontiers of science and engineering through the creative and innovative use
and further development of IT.

In addition, CDI is in the early stages of organizing a one-day, ITR-focused
assistance workshop in early January 2003. This workshop would combine
presentations and interactions with NSF program managers, presentations and
friendly consultation from PIs of ongoing ‘large-scale’ ITR projects in
EPSCoR and non-EPSCoR states, the CDI team, and EPSCoR teams planning to
prepare ‘large-scale’ ITR proposals (to either the Large or Medium ITR
competitions). Please contact us to let us know if you are interested in
attending such a workshop.

receive CDI technical assistance)

NSF’s $145 million ITR program has the following deadlines:

11/18/02: Large projects: (required) pre-proposals

01/06/03: —– CDI ITR Assistance Workshop – tentative date

—–
01/27/03: Large projects: NSF feedback to PIs by this week

02/12/03: Medium projects: full proposals

03/24/02: Large projects: (invited) full proposals

(NSF ITR: Large: $4-15m, Medium: $0.5-4m budgets) (CDI will provide
assistance on ‘large-scale’ proposals in either the Large or Medium
competitions with budgets of at least $2m.)

While this workshop will focus more on the Medium competition due to the ITR
deadline structure, all EPSCoR research teams preparing ‘large-scale’ ITR
proposals would be welcome.

*** Those teams wishing to receive technical assistance ahead of the
Large ITR pre-proposal deadline should contact us immediately to discuss the
possibility of individual assistance.
