Great Falls development guys rustling up prospects in Texas

A recent trip to Dallas to drum up jobs for Great Falls went well, the travelers say.

John Kramer and Jerry Chavez of the Great Falls Development Authority say they visited with two solid prospects while in Texas.

As a result, the top executive of a company interested in a product distribution center committed to visit Great Falls in August, Chavez said. The center could employ 50 people in jobs paying $15 per hour, plus benefits, he said.

A visit with leaders of a specialty vehicle leasing operation also went well, but was more preliminary.

"They were interested in what we had to say, " Chavez said, noting he will follow up on information requests. A decision could be six months to a year away on the project that could include 500 jobs.

The GFDA guys aren’t naming either prospect, although the financial center prospect apparently carries a recognizable name.

"You would know it; you’ve seen the name," Chavez said.
