Stock Farm and Rob and Terry Ryan donation keeps Ravalli County display alive

Sparks will fly Sunday at the Fourth of July fireworks show displayed at the Ravalli County Fairgrounds thanks to a couple generous donations.

The $10,000 show wouldn’t have happened without contributions from the Stock Farm http://www.stockfarm.com/Index.html and Rob and Terry Ryan http://www.entrepreneur-america.com/ . Each donated $5,000 for the show, but both are hoping the community steps up to fund the show next year.

For seven years, Steve Green has organized the fireworks display, and the Stock Farm has contributed to it for several years. Last year, the homeowners’ organization established a $5,000 matching grant for the show, and the Ryans picked up the tab.

This year, the Ryans again stepped up and matched the Stock Farm donation.

"I think it’s the biggest show in Montana," Green said.

Green said the American Legion is taking over the show’s production in coming years with the hope of making it a community event including a cook-out and ice cream social.

"Rob and I are happy to (donate) one more time," Ryan said. "I think what we’re envisioning is tailgate picnics, an ice cream social, events like races for the children – make it more of a community, family affair."

"We need to make it more than just fireworks because it should be more than that," Green said.

Ryan said people who watch the pyrotechnic display at the fairgrounds or at many locations around Hamilton where it’s visible are encouraged to donate a little something to the show.

In years past, Hamilton businesses contributed to the show, but this year were hit hard by the renovation of downtown, Ryan said.

The show starts at dusk and culminates with a pair of 16-inch shells.
