State-Sponsored Venture Capital: Are CAPCOs a Solution or a Problem?

Daniel Sandler, a professor of law at the University of Western Ontario,
has written a soon to be released, detailed analysis of the role of
government in venture capital formation, examining the role of state,
provincial and federal governments in encouraging capital formation for
small and medium enterprises. The book, "Venture Capital and Tax
Incentives: A Comparative Study of Canada and the United States," is due
off the press in the next few weeks. And while it may not rival the
release of "My Life," it’s a book which should be carefully studied by all
of us who search for best practices in creating capital for worthy
entrepreneurs, from friends and family to sophisticated general partners.
