Missoula Convention and Visitors Bureau Members News Bulletin

There are changes afoot at the MCVB office during the interim period until the new Executive Director takes charge August 2. Mark Martin was dragooned into service and, with the help of Theresa Cox and Barb Neilan, is holding down the fort and ramping up some new operating procedures.

ITRR has published a new Niche research study that compares Montana visitor demographics with the same categories in our neighboring states. Get the pdf report by clicking on http://www.itrr.umt.edu/nichenews/TravelscopeBorderStates.pdf

We’re beefing up the VIC information display, which is lacking a lot of Missoula attractions. Please make sure that we have a supply of yours on hand. We’ll also have a visitor sign-in register that includes the kind of info we can use for future marketing. There’ll also be a small outside display of “Essential Missoula Information” for when the building is closed.

Reminder: the MCVB Board of Directors meetings are now scheduled for the second Thursday of each month in the MonTEC conference room at 1121 E. Broadway starting at 8:00 a.m.

Reminder: Pam Gosink (Travel Montana) will lead an International Training workshop on July 8, from 2:30 to 4:30, in the MonTEC conference room. It’s for those new to marketing in the UK, Germany, and Japan. We’ve got about a dozen reservations so far. To make yours call 532-3250 or email

MCVB will give a journalist from Germany a fam tour of Missoula on June 21. Mountain Valley Inn is providing her accommodations. Smoke Jumpers Center is tops on her “to see” list. More writers coming in August.

Events this week:

Wednesday: Out to Lunch has Ed Norton Big Band; UM Band Camp faculty in 8 PM concert at Bonner Park.

Thursday: Downtown Tonight at Caras Park starts at 5:30 PM

Friday: Osprey season opener at Play Ball Park at 7:05 PM

Saturday: Farmers Market and Arts & Crafts Market starts 9 AM at Circle Square and Pine Street

That’s all for this first MCVB news bulletin. Your ideas and submissions are welcome.
