On this date 100 years ago, the ground was broken by Secretary Samuel P. Langley for the new United States National Museum building (now known as the Natural History Building) at Tenth Street, N.W., on the south side of what is now Constitution Avenue. Today is a great day in Natural History and we are proud to be working on our own Natural History Museum and Education Center. Visit the Smithsonian on line! http://www.si.edu

Job Opening

MNHC is seeking a full-time Administrative Assistant. In addition to general reception duties, we’re looking for an energetic person to assist our Development Director. View the job description at http://www.thenaturecenter.org. Cover letter (including statement detailing why applicant would like to work for a non-profit), resume and 3 references should be addressed to Brad Robinson, MNHC, Bldg T-2, Fort Missoula Road, Missoula, MT 59804. Deadline for receipt of applications is June 30th.

Transportation Needed!

We have found a couple of busses that would suit us to a tee! They hold 20 kids or 15 adults in style and safety. Beach Transportation is selling them so we can be certain they’ve been well maintained. Each Bus costs $5800. If you, or anyone you know, would like to help get summer campers out in the field drop us a line! We currently rent vans for all of our programs – increasing the cost just to cover the rental!

Thanks to Eagle Scout Eddie Marshall of Troop 1904!

His Eagle project was coordinating construction of a beautiful cedar archway that now defines the entrance to the Native Plant Garden at Fort Missoula. The cost was entirely donated by local merchants and private sources. The construction took two days, though Eddie’s effort to organize the project took over 150 hours. MNHC is proud to work with such community minded folks!

MNHC is an independent, non-profit educational organization. Membership gifts support MNHC’s mission of promoting and cultivating understanding, appreciation, and stewardship of nature through education.

Members receive special discounts on programs (including camp registration).
