TransAria Adds Third Tier-1 Internet Facility

TransAria, Inc. (formerly Cutthroat Communications), a Bozeman-based data services company, recently added a third high capacity Internet facility from its Montana backbone network. This additional facility was required to accommodate the rapid growth of TransAria’s customer traffic traveling to and from the Worldwide Web.

TransAria’s Montana network is now triple-homed from Missoula, Helena and Billings with the addition of the third Tier-1 facility. The company’s Internet traffic can now exit and enter Montana through these facilities provided over fiber optic networks of AT&T, MCI/UUNET and Global Crossing. According to Jeff Marlow, TransAria’s CEO, “The addition of this third upstream facility is a reflection of TransAria’s continued customer growth in Montana. To our knowledge, we are the only data carrier in the state maintaining three separate, Tier-1 Internet routes.”

With three Tier-1 Internet facilities, TransAria can route traffic freely to and from the Internet with extremely low latency and virtually no points of congestion. Moreover, these diverse facilities allow for instantaneous re-routing of Internet traffic in the event that failure occurs on any one of them. Todd Graetz, VP Network Operations, comments, “Our focus is on medium and large business customers that have mission-critical data traversing our network into the Internet. With diverse routing over multiple Tier-1 facilities, we can better provide uninterrupted traffic flow and overall quality of service that these customers truly require.”
