The move is not expected to bring more jobs to Boise, said company executives.

SCP’s Boise facility has the ability to more than triple its current manufacturing capacity if needed, said John Johnson, SCP’s vice president of human resources.

"The Boise manufacturing facility is state of the art within our industry. It has significant capabilities to expand its capacity as required," said Johnson.

The company also is opening a sales, service and support office in Stuttgart, Germany, to augment its ability to service European customers.

The company will provide service and spare parts support for all SCP product lines from both the new office in Stuttgart and from its Boise office. About 40 people will be employed in the new Stuttgart office.

The moves follow SCP’s acquisition last year of a division of Germany’s Mattson Technology Inc., which had the facility in Pliezhausen, Germany, now being closed.

"We believe this is the best approach to support our customers," said Mark Peterson, SCP’s president and CEO. "Our facility in Boise will continue to provide manufacturing expertise on a global basis, and our new office in Germany will improve our European sales, service and spare parts capability while reducing cost to customers."

SCP develops and manufactures wet processing technology and equipment used to make semiconductor wafers.
