A Rural Investment Success Story in the Appalachian Ohio region

Adena Ventures is one of the first New Market Venture Funds and operates in the Appalachian Ohio region. Adena, in partnership with two other venture funds and a bank, recently announced an investment in a Nelsonville, Ohio company, ED Map, Inc.

The investment is significant in that the company brings knowledge-based jobs to a rural region long dominated by mining and manufacturing, and experiencing job loss.

According to Lynn Gellerman of Adena Ventures, “This is what we came here to do. We’re working hard everyday to identify and help build high-growth companies in this region.” Michael Mark, ED Map CEO, adds, “The investment will make it possible for our company to expand to new markets and hire more people.”
