Great Falls chamber to hold four business workshops

The Great Falls Area Chamber of Commerce is holding a series of workshops titled "Business Sense Makes Cents."

The workshops are sponsored by the Chamber’s Business Retention and Expansion Committee and are designed to provide practical information for businesses and organizations.

Workshops are from noon to 1 p.m. in Times Square on the corner of 6th Street and Central Avenue.

Cost is $8 per person, per workshop, or $28 per person if the same person registers for all four workshops in the series.

Seating is limited. To register call the Chamber at 761-4434.

Workshops include:

March 25, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act presented by Steve Mehaffey, a certified public accountant with Junkermier Clark Campanella Stevens.

Requirements of HIPAA Privacy start for small employers on April 14, 2004. HIPAA, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 is not just for doctor’s offices and hospitals, it applies to all health plans, including those sponsored by employers regardless of size.

A recent audit of health plans by the Department of Labor found 35 percent noncompliance with Part 1 of HIPAA. And, to date, more than 3,000 complaints have been filed with the office of Civil Rights related to HIPAA privacy.

April 29, "Managing Change," presented by Mark Willmarth of Vision West and the city of Great Falls.

May 12, "Advertising, Sales and Marketing," presented by Randi Szabo of Banik Communications.
