In January, the renewable energy company announced it was building an anaerobic digestion complex to refine animal waste generated at a dairy north of Rupert. The site is largely dedicated to the commercial sale of refined methane gas products, but part of the complex will be used for energy studies. The company will use the center to verify the economic feasibility of gas products that can be produced.

The process turns manure into methane with some water and a few solids as byproducts. The solids can be used as fertilizer and the water for irrigation.

Company officials hope to begin construction within the next few weeks, and anticipate commercialization by summer.
